# About Flowchase
This is a rather long job ad, so we'd like to begin by thanking you for taking the time to read it!
Instead of writing a job ad filled with superlatives, I (the CTO) will be honest with you. We're a very young company, founded in September 2020, from a mix of private and public funding.
Flowchase is an app for improving your English skills, with a focus on listening and speaking exercises. We rely on audio signal processing and Machine Learning to recognize multiple aspects of speech, and then provide useful feedback to learners.
At the moment, the core team consists of:
- Zoé, our CEO and co-founder
- Robin, our CXO and co-founder
- Filipe, our CTO (hi!)
- Noé, our ML specialist and Head of Ramp;D
- Prernna, another ML specialist working on her PhD whilst working at Flowchase
- Killian, our Product Manager
- Noa, a specialist in linguistics
We’re recruiting roles for other departments too; we expect the team to grow given we’ve secured a round of funding earlier this year.
# About the role
We are looking for an engineer that can (primarily) focus on our mobile apps. This would enable the CTO to focus on improving our API and other aspects of our tech stack. You would be working on a React Native application, built with Expo and TypeScript, that ships to Android and iOS devices.
We’re exploring a migration to .NET MAUI or Flutter, so experience in these technologies is also appreciated.
We're happy to provide you with mentoring, any learning materials you need, and the equipment that'll help you do your best. As one of our first hires, you're given lots of ownership and responsibility, but also the freedom and agency that comes with it. We're a small team, and each of us wears many hats, so you're free to do the same. You're a decision maker in the team and your feedback is not only valued but needed for Flowchase to thrive.
Requirements
Please note that these are guidelines, i.e. nice-to-haves, and we value soft skills above all else:
- Good command of JavaScript
- Some experience with React Native (preferred), .NET MAUI, or Flutter
- Some experience with a front-end framework or view library (React, Angular, etc.)
- Some experience with TypeScript would be an added bonus
This is a startup role, so good communication skills and willingness to be a team-member are important. We mostly fall on the introvert side of the spectrum in the Tech team, and take time for deep work. That said, connection and interaction are important at such an early stage, so we try to make time for that as well.
