Job Description

The European Endowment for Democracy (EED) is a grant-giving organisation based in Brussels.

EED’s goal is to provide flexible support to democracy activists, complementing other EU and member state democracy support programmes. EED provides context-based, demand driven support based on a principle of fostering democracy and facilitating initiatives of local actors. EED believes in taking an unconventional approach to supporting democracy through investing in transformational ideas and the people behind them. Its geographic mandate covers the European neighbourhood and beyond, including Turkey.

EED seeks a trainee for a 12-month traineeship (starting in August/ September 2024) for its Turkey Programme Support.

The trainee will assist the Programme Team responsible for Turkey with a range of tasks, including reviewing proposals, monitoring/assessing ongoing projects, collecting and providing information about EED partners’ work and assisting with arranging events and advocacy meetings for relevant EED partners.

Requirements

We seek candidates who have an interest in and clear understanding of the work and dynamics of civil society and good knowledge of the region’s political context. Proficiency in Turkish language required, in addition to English.

Start date: August/September 2023, duration: one year

Please no phone calls/emails/letters.

The application deadline is Sunday, 21 April 2024 at midnight Brussels time.

Unfortunately, we cannot respond to every application, therefore only short-listed candidates will be contacted. The information provided in the application is subject to EU legislation on protection of personal data and confidentiality of information. Benefits

The expected level of monthly remuneration is around 1,800 net per month, in addition to meal vouchers and the reimbursement of a monthly subscription to Brussels public transport.

Citizenship of an EU Member State or residency in the European Union is preferred, but not mandatory.

Work place: EED Secretariat, located in the centre of Brussels, Belgium.
