Klarna is looking for an experienced professional to develop and lead Klarna’s public policy programme in Brussels. As part of the Global Public Policy and government function, you will drive our EU Affairs work and develop strong relationships with key stakeholders within the European Institutions in Brussels. Candidates must have a passion for policy, established relationships, and love working in a fast growing and dynamic company.
You will be part of shaping the Public Policy function globally and will work closely with senior leads in Communications, Legal, Country leads, Product and Compliance to build and drive engagement to support the company's strategic goals. You will maintain a deep understanding of the political and public policy landscape as it affects the company, including identifying new and emerging policy developments relevant to our ever growing range of products, operations and strategy.In this role you will
  • Work together with our Public Policy Team across Europe and Globally to strategically develop, pursue and execute policy objectives for the company.
  • Monitoring policy developments providing analysis, forward planning, internal forecasting and solutions to upcoming events, changes in legislation or political topics.
  • Directly engage senior policymakers and regulators, to educate them about Klarna’s business model and vision spanning across banking, payments and shopping.
  • Creating and drafting written or oral communications outlining.
  • Managing and executing a stakeholder engagement programme, including identifying and building relationships with local, regional amp; national politicians and trade amp; industry bodies.
  • Producing accessible and effective written briefings on complex topics for a variety of internal and external audiences.
  • Potentially representing the business at external meetings with political, public affairs and industry stakeholders.
  • Proactively identifying public affairs opportunities to engage with external stakeholders, and political horizon-scanning and monitoring.
  • Managing any public affairs agency support.
  • Develop and project manage innovative policy campaigns.
You have
  • 8-10 years experience leading and delivering effective public affairs and government relations programmes, in-house, in agency or in an industry body setting. Experience in payments, financial services, fintech, e-commerce or digital platforms a plus.
  • Solid understanding of fundamentals of EU political and legislative processes.
  • Some knowledge of current regulations, policies, as well as the evolving industry and market environment relating to Klarna’s core businesses.
  • Excellent oral and written communication, influencing and negotiation skills with the ability to articulate and communicate at all levels both internally within the organisation and externally.
  • Proven ability to develop collaborative relationships with business partners, senior management and internal stakeholders, fostering partnerships quickly across multiple functions.
  • Strong commercial acumen - able to foresee the impact of political developments on the business and its policy positions.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-moving and dynamic environment.
  • Previous experience managing external agencies.
