Job Description
As a DevOps Engineer, you are the guardian of the quality, stability and security of our cloud-based services. You configure, monitor and manage the Azure/Kubernetes infrastructure and all Nallian platform components and provide L3 support for them. You suggest improvements to processes and procedures, tooling, infrastructure both within the DevOps scope as for developers. You’ll need to be very familiar with Kubernetes and the Azure ecosystems including security, monitoring, networking, storage You have working experience in infrastructure operations, server administration and/or software development. Experience in running a complex Kubernetes configuration is an asset.
To provide our development teams with a platform-as-a-service support, you assist developers in deploying their solutions through development and staging environments and perform production deploys after ensuring the quality of the artifacts to be deployed. You continuously enhance deployment procedures and practices and advise developers on how to best prepare for a deployment, and you actively participate in the quality assurance process.
You have experience in
- Configuring and monitoring Microsoft Azure cloud-based services
- Containerization and cluster management technologies (Docker, Kubernetes, kubectl, Helm, Ingress Controllers)
- Linux OS and shell scripting
- CI/CD configurations integrated with Azure Devops (.NET 5 and React applications)
- Networking and security fundamentals
- nginx and proxy setup
- Deploying and managing SQL (Azure SQL, MySQL), NoSQL (MongoDB, Cosmos) and Redis ecosystem is a plus
- Azure Monitor suite (Insights, Log Analytics, metrics, alert rules), Prometheus and Grafana
In addition, you will be able to
- Communicate technical/complex information both verbally and in writing to peers, senior management, and other non-technical personnel
- Perform multiple tasks concurrently and respond to emergency situations effectively (coffee will be provided)
- Demonstrate excellent problem-solving skills in troubleshooting issues
For extra points, you’ll be familiar with
- Software development in C#/.NET, React
- Automated testing and its integration in CI/CD pipelines
- Vulnerability scanning and security tools for containers and K8s
Requirements
You will perform these tasks:
- Operations
- Infrastructure Operations and Production Support of container technologies and orchestration platforms
- Docker/Kubernetes deployment, configuration, scaling and management of containerized applications
- Implement scalable logging and infrastructure monitoring solutions
- Ensure high availability and acceptable levels of performance of mission critical applications
- Ensure consistency with security policies and best practices
- Follow up and execute regular security key rotations and manage certificate expiration for the entire platform
- L3 support for operations
- Support cloud-hosted systems in a 24x7 environment including troubleshooting, hot fixing, and root cause analysis
- Perform root cause analysis for production issues where the root cause is in infrastructure, environment, configuration, or deployment routines; understand when to escalate to product development teams; remediate root causes and implement preventative actions
- Direct communication with Azure support in case of issues
- Follow-up on release notes and bug/security patches of core components in the infrastructure
- Development support
- Work with development team to configure and manage automated continuous integration (CI) and continuous delivery (CD) pipelines
- Assist in designing, implementing and maintaining deployment automation from code check-in to production, consistent with required separation of responsibilities
- Participate in QA activities to ensure deployment and operation of high-quality artifacts
- Process quality
- Support and maintain tools for deployment, monitoring, and operations
- Work with other technical professionals to develop standards and implement best practices
- Compare, evaluate, and implement new features and technologies
- Contribute to the success of the organization by helping others accomplish job results, learning new skills needed by the team and finding new ways to help the team
