To support our growth, we are looking for our Center of Excellence (CoE) a Research Engineer - Basic Monolithics.
This role belongs to the Advanced Refractory Ramp;D department and is based in Vesuvius Ghlin, in Belgium.
Purpose of the role:
- To manage specific projects in COE portfolio up to market readiness amp; launch, applying technical knowledge and experience and working with other departments eg Mamp;T, Purchasing, Manufacturing sites.
- To ensure Vesuvius upholds the product performance standards throughout the product lifecycle.
- To stay abreast of scientific developments, actively participate in the external scientific community and to bring this insight into the company.
Requirements
Key responsibilities:
- Full Ownership / governance of a Product Line throughout value chain, ensuring projects and products are delivered on time, to scope and to budget
- Execute NPI to target global markets with GPD
- Proper documentation and management of assigned projects; escalate bottlenecks rapidly to management
- Staying in touch with scientific developments/ market trends and bringing this knowledge into Vesuvius to enable improvements/ ideation
- Approval / License to Regions for industrialization and localization
- Collaboration with key stakeholders including Operations, GPDs, Project Sponsor, Research Manager COE etc
- Adherence to governance and auditing process of recipe specification compliance, production standards, product quality
- Uphold and seek improvements to test methods, and processes
- Fundamental expertise on product application and Value to Customer
- Meaningful presence at customer sites and manufacturing locations to build and maintain a reputation of technical expertise and problem solving ability.
Skills amp; Experience:
- PHD or Master’s in Material Science / Chemistry or related engineering field
- Deep and practical experience in Ramp;D research, product development, or industrial environment, and sound knowledge of raw material, bond, binder and products.
- Research Project Management experience with demonstrated capability in articulating technical as well as business facing concepts
- Managing complex research projects/ product lines
- Action oriented with energy and enthusiasm to lead or support product development projects; intellectual ability to seek technical solution; taking systematic approach with planning, prioritizing and time management; customer focused and product quality conscious, able to communicate well with all levels of people, particularly in technical writing, having basic management skills.
- Demonstrable ability to innovate and learn new technical concepts quickly
